School of Ensemble Music in Chamber Music – COMI/03
Second Level Academic Diploma in Ensemble Music (Bachelor’s Degree)
Training Objectives.
After completing the degree programme,graduates of II level n Chamber Music will have achieved: artistic personality and a high professional level that enables them to realize and express their artistic concepts; a good knowledge of styles and instrumental/ vocal/interpretive techniques related to them, of the historical repertoire of ensemble music as contemporary, such as to enable them to produce themselves in a wide range of different contexts; ability o to interpret music from the historical repertoire of ensemble music as contemporary with a distinctive and personal flair; o to adequately contribute with artistic professionalism both as a soloist and in chamber groups and orchestral ensembles; o to further and independently develop their own aesthetic tendencies in a particular area of specialization; o to relate knowledge with practical skills to strengthen one’s artistic development; o to represent one’s artistic concepts in writing as well as verbally; o to undertake artistic projects in an organized manner in new or unfamiliar contexts, including in staff with experts from other artistic areas, in the context of musical theater or the production world. Optionally among elective subjects, the 24 CFAs essential for participation in the Competition for Teaching in Schools. Adequate postural and emotional control techniques; adequate skills in musical computing as well as those related to a second community language.
Access qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or a first-level academic degree or a Conservatory degree together with an upper secondary school diploma, or other qualification obtained abroad and recognized as suitable. It is also necessary that the preparation acquired is consistent and adequate for the second level course.
Candidates who expect to obtain the required qualifications by the February-March session of the academic year of reference can apply for conditional admission.
Entrance Examination
Possible pre-selection: performance of a piece of the candidate’s choice with a maximum duration of 10′.
Practical test: Performance of a significant piece of the solo literature of one’s own instrument and of an important chamber composition from the
classic period onwards, with staff chosen by the candidate, from Duo to Nonetto, who will provide for their collaborators.
In the impossibility of being able to make use of collaborators for the performance of a chamber piece:
a) Performance of a significant piece from one’s solo repertoire.
(b) Performance of their own part of a chamber piece from the Duo to the Nonetto.
Reading test: extemporaneous performance of a piece assigned by the committee (maximum time allowed before performance: 2 times the duration of the piece).
Oral test: the interview will focus on the training already undertaken and any professional orientations that have already emerged during the last years of training with particular reference to the interests of the specific address.
