Pop Rock Electric Bass School – COMP/01
First Level Academic Diploma in Pop Rock Electric Bass (Bachelor’s Degree)
Training Objectives.
After completing the degree programme,graduates of First Level in Popular Music should have acquired the knowledge of techniques and specific skills that will enable them to concretely realize their artistic idea. Starting from the instrument on which they have carried out their training, they will also have acquired basic skills in musical arrangement, the realization of concerts following specific modes of performance, record production, electronic media and networks. Special attention should be paid to the acquisition of appropriate postural and emotional control techniques. In addition, with regard to the specificity of each course, the student should possess adequate skills in the field of improvisation. At the end of the three-year course, students should have acquired a thorough knowledge of the stylistic, historical and general aesthetic aspects of popular music, including important and qualifying excursions into the languages of improvisation. It is also an educational objective of the course to acquire adequate skills in the field of musical informatics, recording and production techniques, as well as those related to a second community language.
Access qualifications
High School Diploma or other equivalent qualification obtained in a non-Italian school and recognized.
Entrance Examination
1) Performance of 2 pieces taken from the list below, one of which is chosen by the candidate, one chosen by the commission (with accompaniment
bass/double bass, drums and any other instruments or using musical bases on digital support).

2) Performance of a standard (1 Pop Ballad) chosen by the candidate for solo instrument
3) Performance of a piece at first sight. For harmonic instruments: with melody and theme songs to harmonize. For monodic instruments: reading of the melody and possible interpretation of the theme songs
4) Assessment of technical skills (scales, arpeggios, etc.)
The singers must present the songs both in Italian and in English
The committee reserves the right to discontinue the test at any time.
SECOND TEST
1) The candidate must demonstrate mastery in the use of notation codes, in the knowledge of the fundamental elements of music theory and in the exercise of the fundamental skills related to listening and rhythmic and sung reading.
2) The candidate must be able to recognize intervals (within the octave), major and minor scales, modal scales, chords (triads and quadriads in fundamental position)
3) Assessment through oral interview of the basic musical skills of Elements of History of Popular Music.
MUSICAL, GENERAL AND MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEW
Notes: The Commission has the right, for the purposes of evaluation, to select a part of the programme submitted and to listen again and/or to interrupt the implementation.
Aspirants who already have the relevant licenses obtained at the Institutions of Higher Music Education referred to in Law 508/99 are exempt from test no. 2.
